National Library Week -
Lives Change @ Your Library Essay Contest Winners

Congratulations to the winners of the Lives Change @ Your Library essay contest winners. The top three winning essays are posted below:

Linda Walsh - 1st Place

I’ve lived in towns where the library of the town was just adequate.  Then I moved to Crystal Lake. From the very beginning, I used our Library for books about having a newborn, children’s books, and other things that I needed as a new mom.  As my family grew, we began to use programs provided to encourage reading.  As my children grew up, I then began to takes classes, read books and discover the many services that the Crystal Lake Public Library has to offer for my own personal growth.  Our Library is a great place to learn.

Alice Picchi, 2nd Place

Our family conducted an experiment to eliminate cable tv for 3 months – that was 3 years ago. The library has become a regular spot to visit. We play checkers, read books, and of course borrow a ton of books and DVDs. Without the distraction of television, our family spends more quality time together, with the help of our wonderful library. I am so grateful to have this gem in my hometown.

Shirley McCoy, 3rd Place

You added 10 years to my life, you are the college I never graduated from, you offer more than any university, your employees are priceless.
